We love to travel – overseas, interstate and all around our local area.
We’ve collected a LOT of photos documenting these journeys.
The aim of this new meme is to highlight the best ones.
One at a time.
Some easy to follow rules:
- Pick just ONE photo that shows something unique, unusual or quintessential about your travels.
- You can label it, write a story or do a travelogue piece about your photo if you so desire.
- These photos are about the place, the environment (man-made or natural), panoramas, macros – whatever captures your eye.
- All photos must be your own.
- NO selfies or family pics please.
We’re all about the scenery at Thursday Travels!
Blackpool Illuminations
On our last trip to the UK, when we realised we were going to be in the area during Illumination season (66 days from late August until Nov) , we knew we had to make the detour to Blackpool, to take in this famous spectacle.
The Illuminations run along a 10km stretch of the Promenade.
They first shone in 1879 – just 8 arc lights to try and extend the summer.
It is a much bigger affair now, but during the day, a grey, English summers day at that, they look rather desolate.
Add your link below if you’d like to share your very own #ThursdayTravels pics.
Nice, but do you have a version with the lights on? I used to love the Christmas lights in Dijon, so many colors and shapes. In American cities, including Chicago, it’s usually just white and red… pretty boring. And they don’t have lights above the streets, joining both sides of the streets like they do in France.

I do, but most of them turned out blurry! I’ll check out Mr Books’ photos, he might have had more luck.
